A celebration of women who hail from or have significantly contributed to the Greater Orlando area. Highlighting the life and legacies of African-American women, this exhibit features women from a variety of professional fields who have shattered glass ceilings and laid the foundation for generations to come. Representing a rich and vast history of dedication to enriching the community, this collection highlights more than 30 women, their individual and collective achievements, educational backgrounds, and dedication to the Central Florida community.

The Women’s History and Cultural Center presents “Going Gold, An Exploration of Girl Scouts’ Nationally Recognized Award” – the Gold Award. For the first time you can come and discover the history behind this century-old award, as well as the importance it serves in the lives of the young women who earn it.

Featuring the Class of 2024 Gold Award recipients, this exhibition immerses you in the impact Girl Scouts have on their communities and the steps they take to make the world a better place. From mental health to environmental protection, educational opportunities and beyond, Gold Award Girl Scouts are creating sustainable solutions to the most challenging problems facing our world today!

Going Gold is a traveling exhibit that will remain at WHCC through August 31,2024. Afterwards, the exhibit will be displayed by our partners throughout the Central Florida area. We invite you to WHCC to tour this wonderful exhibit and stay tuned to see if Going Goldwill pop up in your neighborhood.
